you should always read it all, before making assumptions.   Cool

beni, if u know what ur doing, you wont mess up, and wont have to go back upstairs.... trust me, it only requires a power and a data.... which means, 3 wires for the power, and 5 for the data..... and depending on where the room is relative to the basement would determine how hard the install for the data would be.... as for the power, u can pick that up in the closest plug because most of ur houses run size 14 awg wire..... and as long as its not a dedicated circuit then u more than likely have enough amperage left over to load another plug on it... due to the fact that, in the us, a continuous load can only load the breaker to 80%, but that doesnt apply to branch circuits like plugs, but the builders only load 80% just in case, so u have another 20% to use.... u need me to site the section in the code book too?

ps. remember, green wire= ground, black wire= hot, white wire= neutral

Most houses I see always use 12/2 wire. You can use a 40amp breaker & load a little more onto the line if you do it that way.  Cheesy

My dad has a degree in electrical engineering, so I have picked up some things being around him.  Cheesy

depends where u live, in the south its mostly 14/2 romex run, but i know in the north they usually use size 12 due to extremely cold conditions.... and depending on what ur load is will determine the size of the breaker, usually ur washers and dryers and ovens are on 30-40 amp breakers and the rest can usually fit on 20 amp breakers... the main breakers are usually 100 amp unless specifically requested, cause the one i installed on me parents house 5 years ago is a 200 amp main..... then again i added a shit load of stuff to their house....  btw, i am an electrical engineer Smiley

You seem to know a lot about it. lol I guess that makes since, since you're an electrical engineer.  Cheesy

I used to like going in the houses after they were wired & just look through at the wiring setup. It was pretty cool. Houses look so different when they have no walls. lol

well, before i went to college, i worked for my uncle who was an electrician, so i did a lot of electrical work even though i dont have to do so anymore, i just gotta keep up with the code when i come up with the designs for our clients.... kinda pissed me off though, i only minored in electrical engineering, i majored in mechanical engineering.... but they pay me more to do the electrical so i guess all is well in the end

Does the code change a lot? It's the NEC, right?

ive got quite a difficult one this time, i hope noones ever heard of this one but i doubt it

Three Masters of Logic wanted to find out who was the wisest amongst them. So they turned to their Grand Master, asking to resolve their dispute. “Easy,” the old sage said. "I will blindfold you and paint either red, or blue dot on each man’s forehead. When I take your blindfolds off, if you see at least one red dot, raise your hand. The one, who guesses the color of the dot on his forehead first, wins." And so it was said, and so it was done. The Grand Master blindfolded the three contestants and painted red dots on every one. When he took their blindfolds off, all three men raised their hands as the rules required, and sat in silence pondering. Finally, one of them said: "I have a red dot on my forehead."
How did he guess?    Huh

This one is solved through deduction.  Cheesy The deduction of third-person deduction, no less.

At first I was a bit confused by how you wrote this, but I assumed when you said, "if you see at least one red dot," you were referring to the other men's heads.

I am going to pretend I am one of the men to explain this better. If I had my blind fold taken off & seen two red dots (both on each other's foreheads) & everyone had their hand up, without them saying anything, I can safely assume I have a red dot.

Why is this? Because if I DID have a blue dot, one of the men (let's call him Asim) would see 1 person with a red dot & one person with a blue dot. With that being said (assuming, of course, asim is not a complete retard - these are wise men), if the third man (let's call him Steve) who is looking at Asim & I has his hand up, then Asim MUST have a red dot (because I have a blue dot), or otherwise he would have a blue dot. Therefore, Asim would have been the first to noticed & would have said something.

Because Asim did not say anything (along with the other man), but rather sat in silence, it must mean that Asim is in the same situation as me (he sees TWO dots). Therefore, everyone has a red dot.

To be honest, without all this deduction, my first guess would be everyone has a red dot as soon as I seen the other two's heads...because it just fits the whole "wise sage" story. He is going to be eccentric, and do the thing that is least expected, and in this case, I would imagine that as painting red dots on everyone's heads.
